Cleaning and sterilization instructions Sterilization is NOT a substitute for proper cleaning. Clean the instruments first then sterilize them. Cleaning 1. Remove visible debris or organic matter with a disposable wipe or plastic surface brush and warm tap water with soap orDo not use a metal/wire brush. 2. Inspect for remaining debris and repeat step 1 if needed. 3. Rinse all external surfaces with warm tap water. 4. Dry completely.
Ultrasonic Cleaning The instruments may be placed in an ultrasonic cleaner after cleaning them via the steps outlined above. Follow the ultrasonic cleaning unit manufacturer’s instructions. Place PerForm instruments in a cassette to prevent damage from other items. Rinse and dry the instruments prior to sterilization.
Sterilization PerForm contact instruments may be steam autoclaved only. Follow the sterilization unit manufacturer’s instructions. Do not place PerForm instruments in a chemiclave, cold sterilization solution or dry heat sterilization unit. After repeated autoclave cycles PerForm instruments may begin to appear cloudy. This is normal and does not reduce the ability of the instrument to produce a contact.
